Nursing PMHN - Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Exam Study Guide
The psychiatric and mental health nurse certification is used to evaluate the specialization of the nursing seeking a certification with nursing patients suffering from mental illness. The applicants need to be aware of specific mental illness characteristics and monitoring the patient for treatment, effectiveness and risk of potential side effects of treatment.
Eligibility for PMHN - Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Exam
In order to be certified as PMHN the applicant must be a registered nurse with associate degree or diploma from accredited two year RN program. The registered nurse must have worked for full time two year psychiatric and mental health program with at least 2000 hours within last 36 months. Apart from that the candidate needs at least 30 hours of continuing education over past three years.
Format for PMHN - Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Exam
The PMHN examination consists of 175 multiple choice questions among which 150 questions are scoring while the other 25 questions are pretest questions marked for future reference. The candidates are evaluated over their knowledge regarding the various issues in reference to the psychiatric patients, evaluation of psychosocial issues and the questionnaire pertaining to the patient, family education.
