The CNOR exam or the Certified Nurse Operating Room exam is administered by the Thomson Prometric at the venues through out the United States of America and Canada and internationally.
Eligibility for CNOR - Certified Nurse Operating Room Exam
To appear for the examination the candidates are required to satisfy a few eligibility criteria:
- The candidate must have two years of experience and 2400 hours of experience as a operating room nurse.
- The candidate must be currently employed as an operating room nurse and must be employed as a registered nurse.
Format for CNOR - Certified Nurse Operating Room Exam
The CNOR exam is a computer based exam. This examination consists of 200 multiple choice questions and out of that 15 questions are unscored that are for the future reference. The examination lasts for around four hours. There is also a thirty minutes pre exam tutorial but that is just optional. The examination content is based on two nursing platforms- patient care management and the management of the materials, personnel and services. Further these two may contain the questions based on the following subjects:
- Preoperative patient care management
- Intra-operative patient care management
- Postoperative patient care management
- Preoperative management of materials, personnel, and services
- Intra-operative management of materials, personnel, and services
- Postoperative management of materials, personnel, and services
