ABCTE Chemistry Exam Study Guide


ABCTE or American Board for Certification for Teachers Excellence gives certification to the candidates who are competent to teach chemistry. All the applicants have to go through the knowledge scrutiny. In this exam, knowledge of various topics of real importance is measured. Eligibility for ABCTE Chemistry Exam


For becoming eligible for the certification candidate should atleast possess bachelor degree in any of the subjects related to the field. Apart from this there should be no felony record of the candidate in the past. A vigor background check is done by the board. The candidate should achieve fair marks in the ABCTE exam to get certified atleast as a proficient if not distinguished teacher. Rest the candidate should be committed and determined towards the profession. He/she should be liable to impart education to others in the most polite and efficient manner.

Format of ABCTE Chemistry Exam


To be a certified chemistry teacher, candidate has to be proficient in every aspect of chemistry. Whether it is organic, inorganic, physical or biological, applicant must have good hand in all the levels. Various topics covered in the exam are gas laws, atomicity, chemical naming, chain reaction, periodicity, organic sciences etc. these all topics carry due weightage in the exam, hence candidate should prepare it accordingly. There are total 125 multiple choice questions in the exam paper. The total duration for completion of exam is 4 hours or 240 minutes. The entire score is converted on the scale of 500. The score required to get certification as a proficient teacher is 285 and for distinguished is 357.
