Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination CPCE Test Preparation Study Guide
The CPCE is developed and distributed by the Research and Assessment Corporation for Counseling (RACC) and the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) with the purpose of assessing a counseling student's knowledge about counseling information.
Format Of The Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination (CPCE):
The CPCE exam is offered in multiple-choice format. It consists of 160 questions that include 20 items from each CACREP area. Of these 20 items 17 are scored while 3 are pre test items. The questions asked in the exam are included from the following content areas:
1. Human growth and development
2. Social and cultural foundations
3. Helping relationships
4. Group work
5. Career and lifestyle development
6. Appraisal
7. Research and program evaluation
8. Professional orientation and ethics
The candidates are given 4 hours to complete the examination.
