Certified Professional Coder CPC Exam
The CPC certification of the AAPC is the gold standard for medical coding that represents world-class expertise that is sought after by medical companies across the country and offers attractive compensation. This certification test is the final step in obtaining CPC certification renowned worldwide as the gold standard of medical coding based on treatment. By cracking the CPC exam and earning the certificate can create opportunities to develop as a skilled healthcare professional. A CPC compliance is essential to the profitable management of treatment practices as it determines 100% of the revenue for the code provider. As a CPC, students will learn how to determine the correct diagnosis (ICD-10), method (CPT®), and supply (HCPS Level II) code. Masking medical coding is achievable and provides the primary basis for career advancement in medical administration.
Eligibility for Certified Professional Coder CPC Exam
Students who have a bachelor's degree in science and sufficient knowledge of human anatomy can register for the CPC exam. The students have to register on AAPC. Registration fees are $180 for the individual and $100 for the AAPC students. A candidate must submit the application form three weeks before the date of examination. The candidate has to clear the payment three weeks before the exam. If the payment is not cleared three weeks before the exam, students will not be allowed to sit. No recommendation letter is necessary for the CPC exam. The candidate does not need to be a veteran. However, in some special cases, two years of experience is recommended. Most of the questions that will be asked in the CPC Certificate exam are related to human physiology and disease. So, if students are trained to be a medical coder or if students have enough medical coding experience, students can take the opportunity to get a certificate by registering for the CPC exam.
Format of Certified Professional Coder CPC Exam
The CPC test is currently conducting in two ways.
- Online Proctored (taken at home in a quiet, private location)
- Physical Location Proctored (local chapter or licensed instructor)
For the Online Proctored CPC Exam:
- The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions delivered in two parts.
- The Schedule is different for each part.
- Reliable internet connection, external webcam, and a keyboard are mandatory to sit for the Online CPC exam.
- Students will get a total time of 2 hours and 45 minutes for each part and students will have to answer 70% of the questions correctly.
For the physical location proctored CPC Exam:
- 150 MCQ will be given to answer for the physical location proctored CPC exam.
- The entire question will be taken at a scheduled time.
- Students will get a total time of 5 hours and 40 minutes and students will have to answer 70% of the questions correctly.
- Most of the questions are based on the correct application of CPT codes, HCPC Level II supply codes, and ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes.
Syllabus of Certified Professional Coder CPC Exam
Candidates are required to answer 105 out of 150 questions correctly, to pass the exam. Questions include from the following subject areas:
