Pennsylvania Keystone End-of-Course Assessments

Keystone exams serve the goal of assessing the knowledge at the end of a public school course in the state of Pennsylvania. This type of testing began in 2012. Keystone is a standardized exam given in public schools and is an heir of the PSSA tests. The Keystone EOC exam was designed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education. Since the school year of 2012-2013, this exam is available for taking in the fields of Literature, Biology, and Algebra.

Keystone exams were coordinated by groups of teachers from across Pennsylvania and decided to select the areas of knowledge on which this test is based. This group of experts included teachers, supervisors, curriculum principals, and faculty experts.

Eligiblity for Pennsylvania Keystone End-of-Course Assessments Study Guide

Pennsylvania has required all schools to examine students in grades 3-8 and 11 through a PSSA exam. In 2012., Pennsylvania introduced a new and innovative set of exams called Keystone EOC tests in Biology, Algebra I, and Literature. This means all students throughout their public primary and secondary education in the state of Pennsylvania can take this test.

After enrollment of all public school students in the Keystone EOC test program, all 11th-grade students are required to participate in exams in these subjects. These exams are designed to assess the students' education in these specific subject areas after finishing the corresponding class.

Keystone has developed a method of online preparation and tutorials. In addition, in preparation for the exam, Keystone recommends tutor and class studying. The goal of this test is to measure the student’s post-course knowledge in alignment with the Common Core Standards adopted by the state. These standards are a model to what every public school student needs in their future education or career.

Format of Pennsylvania Keystone End-of-Course Assessments Study Guide

Keystone exams are available both over the computer and in paper-and-pen format. There are no time restrictions for students on this test. For each Keystone Exam, an average student should take 2 to 3 hours. Each test has two modules, and each session of the exam should last up to one or one and a half hours. Keystone exam results will be processed as quickly as possible and delivered to the counties, then to public schools which will administer the test results again to the students and parents.
