Personal Trainer Certification Exam NCSF-CPT Test Preparation Study Guide


The NCSF-CPT Exam is conducted by the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF). The purpose of the exam is to identify those candidates who are competent enough to meet the standards set by the NCSF and make a career as a personal trainer.

Format Of The Personal Trainer Certification Exam NCSF-CPT


The NCSF-CPT Exam is offered in computer-based format. It consists of 150 questions of which 125 are scored while 25 are pretest. The questions cover the following content areas:

Health and Physical Fitness 10.5%
A. Factors and obstacles that affect health, wellness and total fitness
B. Cause / effect relationship between lifestyle behaviours, diet, physical activity, and disease
C. Behavior modification techniques
D. Goal Setting
Screening and Evaluation 12.1%
A. Risk factors for exercise testing and capabilities, and training goals participation
B. Common classification of medications
