MTTC Reading Test Study Guide

MTTC Reading Test is administered by Michigan Department of education to grant certification to eligible candidates. After getting this certification, candidate gains the permission to teach in Michigan State as an Educator. Score of Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Reading Test is valid for the period of five years. Hence candidate should prepare well for the exam to get good marks in the first attempt itself. To get the certification, candidate needs to prove his proficiency in the core subject headings and in general aptitude test.

Eligibility for MTTC Reading Test

To appear for MTTC Reading Test, candidate should meet following eligibility criteria of the education board:-

• Applicant should have bachelor degree from state or national university
• Applicant should have mastery in the subject from state approved college.
• Applicant should have three years of teaching experience (required for out of state candidate only)
• Applicant should be at least 21 years of age.

Candidate should score passing marks in the exams to get certification from the board. If the candidate falls short of the marks then he is liable to reappear for the exam in the next schedule. If out of state candidate lacks the teaching experience then candidate is liable to hold a non renewable certification from Michigan Department of Education.

Format of MTTC Reading Test

MTTC Reading Test includes multiple choice questions. Scoring of MTTC Reading Test is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. Total duration for completing the exam is 270 minutes. Candidate needs to prove his proficiency in basic skills also which includes reading, writing and mathematics. There are 85 multiple choice questions and one subjective question in MTTC Basic Skills Exam.
